The Carving

Baroque design favours movement over restraint — sweeping legs, scrolled aprons, detailed edgework running along the table skirt and chair backs. Our carvers shape each of these elements by hand, working the curves and relief patterns individually rather than routing them from a fixed template. It’s a denser style of carving than most dining furniture carries, and it takes considerably longer to produce because of it.

Table Construction

The tabletop sits on a base built from seasoned solid wood, jointed at every load-bearing point to handle the weight of daily use — plates, elbows, the occasional child climbing halfway onto it. Ornate legs are only as good as the joinery holding them to the frame, and that’s where we don’t compromise, regardless of how elaborate the visible carving is.

The Chairs

Each chair carries a scaled-down version of the same carved language found on the table, so the set reads as one design rather than a table with mismatched seating. The frames are solid wood, and the seats are padded with high-density foam and upholstered in a fabric or leather finish chosen to complement the table.

Finish and Detail

We pair the carving with a rich wood stain that deepens the visible grain and highlights the relief work rather than flattening it under a heavy lacquer. The result is a table that looks as good under direct light as it does in a dimmer dining room.
